JUPITER II is a group of three Northern California musicians: Lindy Mack - Keyboards & Violin Vicki Mack - Keyboards & Flute Scott Harris - Trombone, Soprano Saxophone, Flute, & E.W.I. (Electronic Wind Instrument) After more than a decade playing music together, Lindy, Vicki, and Scott formed JUPITER II in 1984 for a concert of improvisational space music in Santa Cruz, California. Since then, they have created new sounds and composed new music for their first album of New Age Space Music, called Pacific Skies. An hour-long album of space music by JUPITER II, featuring a subtle interplay of acoustic and electronic music. Flute, trombone, saxophone, violin, piano, natural sounds, and a variety of synthesizers create an atmosphere of luxurious comfort. Ideal for meditation, massage, or simply a moment's respite from a hectic world. The album features melodic wind and string expressions emerging from a gentle wash of synthesized textures. PACIFIC SKIES includes seven original works of great variety and depth. The music includes pieces which are derived from inspired improvisations as well as pieces which are fully composed. The entire effort is the culmination of five years' collaboration. Scott HarrisScott plays flute, piccolo, trombone, soprano saxophone, and E.W.I. (Electronic Wind Instrument). He has performed on a variety of recording projects beginning in 1979, including the recording of his trombone sound for E-MU sampling instruments. In addition to his original music with Jupiter II, he plays classical and jazz music which has afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Canada as well as five concert tours of Europe. In the summer of 1990, Bulgarian State Radio called Scott "one of the most prominent names in American jazz today." (this may actually have been true...that day...in Bulgaria.) He developed his interest in space music when he discovered the Music From The Hearts of Space radio program in 1977 and introduced it to Vicki and Lindy. Currently, he lives in Santa Cruz where his other ongoing projects include leading the Scott Harris Big Band and the Santa Cruz Brass Quintet. Lindy MackLindy began his musical training on the piano at the age of five and, within a few years, was playing violin and alto saxophone. At the age of fifteen, he played saxophone in the Sixth Annual Concord Jazz Festival. A short time later, he developed an interest in electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Lindy has played all around the United States and internationally, including eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. He led a pop & jazz quartet on tour to Japan initiating the Oakland-Fukuoka Sister Cities Cultural Exchange in 1977. After several years in college, he joined the Jeannine Carol Project and toured throughout the western United States and Canada. In 1989, he performed with the '50's rock group, The Drifters. In addition to composing and recording original nstrumental music with Jupiter II, Lindy performed with the San Jose-based Pop/Rock band, Memorabilia. He continues to perform on a variety of recording projects from his private studio in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Vicki MackVicki
began playing the piano at the age of five, and she took up the flute a few
years later. In high school, she began arranging for local "rhythm and
blues" and jazz/rock groups. She started recording as a keyboardist in San
Francisco in 1979. While attending the University of California, Berkeley,
she pursued her musical ambitions by performing with the university concert
band and by playing in musicals presented by local theater companies. She
played with a variety of chamber ensembles in Los Angeles while completing
her medical degree. Currently, Vicki is a physician in Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania, and she contributes to musical compositions by Jupiter II. More Info For information on the CD/cassette release of Pacific Skies, please e-mail Jupiter II at lindy@amnesia-music.com.
