
Musician Penny Hanna performs throughout the San Francisco Bay area as a singer, bassist, and/or reed player with numerous groups including the Scott Harris Big Band, Esquire Big Band, the Matisse Freimark Band, the Young At Heart Project, and as a Viola da Gambist with the Antiquarian Funks and the California Gamba Consort.
As a writer and performer in Austin Texas, Ms. Hanna won first place in the 1985 Austin Music Umbrella Songwriters Competition, was a featured performer on KUT's Live Set, and a finalist in the 1985 New York Songwriters Showcase and Austin Chronicle Musicians Poll, and was double finalist and voted Best Female Vocalist in the 1988 Austin Music Umbrella songwriters Competition.
Her recording credits include 1750 Arch Records, the title song to the cult film Hollywood Boulevard, numerous CDs for Austin-based musicians, and three albums of her own songs in 1986, '87, and '88 (Organic Software, Cruel Lottery, Often Running).
